Dan Burnett was born in 1982 in Beverley, East Yorkshire, and was spoon-fed blues, soul and rock music from an early age. His father, who was a respected guitarist in the '60's and '70's (he was good friends with Mick Ronson, and in bands with other former members of David Bowie's 'Spiders from Mars', and Uriah Heep) began teaching him to make music after buying a keyboard for his 3rd birthday. Keen to learn, Dan spent most of his time learning music from his father, and by the time he was nine years old he was playing local gigs in his Dad's blues band, and becoming more and more familiar with the keyboards, and getting a taste for live performance. Dan spent a lot of his childhood listening to blues and boogie woogie musicians, and aspired to follow in the footsteps of his musical heroes such as Jimmy Yancey, Jools Holland, Dr John and Stevie Wonder. He began learning to emulate the styles and phrases of his idols, from honky tonk to boogie woogie (with a bucketful of blues thrown in for good measure!). The more he learnt and practised, the more he developed his own style of playing, as well as beginning to discover his (once shy yet very promising) vocal talent. Having been involved in various musical projects, such as co-writing blues albums for Boosey Media (Cavendish Music), Dan is currently playing gigs throughout the UK both with his band and as a solo performer. He has warmed up audiences for fantastic acts such as Aynsley Lister, Sherman Roberston, The Animals & Friends, The Nimmo Brothers, Nine Below Zero, Matt Schofield, and Paul Jones & Dave Kelly. Although still unsigned, Dan's list of contacts within the music industry continues to grow, together with his reputation as an outstanding musician and performer. |
